Job Overview

Working as part of a team of operators to process customer orders to specifications using a selection of CNC based machinery. The role will also involve the use of CombiLifts (multi directional forklifts).

Salary

Mid shift:     £26,500 – £37,250 per annum

Night shift:  £26,500 – £37,250 per annum

Dependent on experience/moving onto shift, plus benefits, plus potential discretionary bonus. These salary ranges include the shift premium where applicable.

Pre authorised overtime available at time and a half, after 40 hours.

Shifts Available

Mid shift       (37 hours per week): Monday to Thursday (14:00 – 22:00) Friday (14:00 – 19:00)

Night shift   (37 hours per week): Monday to Thursday (22:00 – 06:00) Friday (19:00 – -00:00)

This includes a 30 minute paid break, Monday to Friday. Those on the mid and late shift’s do not have breaks on Friday. All training carried out on day shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operate a selection of manual and CNC based machinery for metal processing
  • Process steel to customers’ requirements and tolerances. Work within the company’s quality system to ensure the full traceability of customer orders
  • Be competent at reading drawings, orders and following verbal instructions, be available to train others in this area
  • Able to work to high standards under your own initiative and pressure
  • Operate forklifts, Combilifts and the crane, safely and in a controlled manner
  • Working as part of our team of operators, processing steel to order, as and when orders are generated
  • Collating aforementioned orders, including banding, palletising, bagging and preparing them for loading
  • Loading, off loading of plate and parts from the plasma machines
  • Identify and locate different steel products using appropriate measuring equipment
  • Ensuring daily checks are performed on relevant equipment at the start of your shift and report any defects
  • Ensuring machines and all work areas are clean and tidy
  • Reporting any accidents and incidents to the HS&E Manager
  • Reporting any machine faults/breakdowns to the Production Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
  • Attending all training courses when required
  • Following all safe systems of work at all times. Identifying and reporting any shortcomings that become apparent whilst undertaking tasks or if the tasks change or new activities are undertaken. Liaising with the HS&E Department to ensure such risks are assessed and procedures amended as necessary
  • Actively engaging in the identification of risks within the workplace and the subsequent assessment development of suitable safe systems of work. When necessary, intervening to prevent breaches of health and safety and/or report as necessary
  • Following the requirements of the Company Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures to help achieve a quality product for the customer and reduce the non-conformances
  • Following the requirements of the Company Environmental Management System to assist the Company’s objective to reduce the detrimental effect on the environment by way of waste management and any other areas to improve the environmental impact.

Experience

  • Experience using measuring equipment, reading drawings, forklifts, CombiLifts or side loaders is beneficial
  • Experience using CNC machinery is highly beneficial.
