Job Description

Driving a company lorry on multi-drop runs within/around East Anglia, the Home Counties, the Midlands, London and even occasionally further afield. Assisting, as requested and as appropriate, with the unloading/loading of the lorry at various individual drops.

Starting salary of £30,000 per annum.

Available at time and a half.


Shifts Available

Leaving the yard by 6:00 until finish as per deliveries – Monday to Friday (40 hours)

Duties & Responsibilites


  1. Carryout all daily lorry checks at the start of the shift
  2. Ensure continued load security and safety
  3. Drive in accordance to all relevant road traffic laws and tachograph laws
  4. Follow instructions of delivery plan
  5. Be courteous and polite to customers
  6. Follow customer instructions and site rules
  7. Aid the unloading of materials on customer premises in accordance with the health and safety policy
  8. Report any accidents to Transport Manager
  9. Report any delivery problems to Transport Manager
  10. Report any vehicle defects to Transport Manager
  11. Ensure the security of their digital tachograph card.



  1. Identify and locate different steel products, using appropriate measuring equipment and reporting faults
  2. Ensure machines and all work areas are clean and tidy
  3. Replenish stock in the racks
  4. Ensure daily checks are performed on your forklift/combi-lift at the start of your shift
  5. Working as part of our team of operators, picking steel to order, as and when orders are generated
  6. Collating aforementioned orders, and preparing them for loading
  7. Be courteous and polite to customers
  8. Unloading Lorries as necessary
  9. Loading Lorries as necessary
  10. Ensure you and your colleagues adhere to all current Health & Safety Legislation and Company Policy
  11. Report any accidents and incidents to the Health and Safety Advisor
  12. Comply with all company quality policies and procedures.
