Salary

Day shift:    £23,800 – £30,000 per annum

Mid shift:    £25,325 – £31,900 per annum

Night shift: £28,625 – £36,000 per annum

Dependent on experience/moving onto shift, plus benefits, plus discretionary bonus. This salary range includes the shift premium where applicable.

Pre authorised overtime available at time and a half, after 40 hours.

Day shift    (40 hours per week): Monday to Friday (06:00 – 14:00)

Mid shift    (37 hours per week): Monday to Thursday (14:00 – 22:00) Friday (14:00 – 19:00)

Night shift (37 hours per week): Monday to Thursday (22:00 – 06:00) Friday (19:00 – 00:00)

This includes a 30 minute paid break. All training carried out on day shift.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Operating a selection of manual and CNC based machinery for metal processing
  • Processing steel to customers’ requirements and tolerances. Working within the company’s quality system to ensure the full traceability of customer orders
  • Understanding how to read drawings, orders and following verbal instructions, being available to train others in this area
  • Operate forklifts, CombiLifts and the crane safely and in a controlled manner
  • Ensuring daily checks are performed on your equipment, crane and forklift/CombiLift, these are to be carried out before you start your shift
  • Collating aforementioned orders, including banding, palletising, bagging and preparing them for loading
  • Loading and offloading of plate and parts from the plasma and laser machines
  • Identifying and locating different steel products using appropriate measuring equipment
  • Keeping machines and work areas clean and tidy
  • Reporting any accidents and incidents to the HS&E Manager
  • Reporting any machine faults/breakdowns to the Production Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
  • Attending all training courses when required
  • Following all safe systems of work at all times. Identifying and reporting any shortcomings that become apparent whilst undertaking tasks or if the tasks change or new activities are undertaken. Liaising with the HS&E Department to ensure such risks are assessed and procedures amended as necessary
  • Actively engaging in the identification of risks within the workplace and the subsequent assessment development of suitable safe systems of work. When necessary, intervening to prevent breaches of health and safety and/or report as necessary
  • Following the requirements of the Company Quality Management Systems, policies and procedures to help achieve a quality product for the customer and reduce the non-conformances
  • Following the requirements of the Company Environmental Management System to assist the Company’s objective to reduce the detrimental effect on the environment by way of waste management and any other areas to improve the environmental impact.
