Market Disruption Update March 2026
The rapid escalation of the conflict in the Middle East is both frightening and unimaginable and, like everyone, at a time of crisis, our hope is for a swift resolution.
As a result of the escalating tensions, the global steel market has started to experience significant pressure due to the rise in shipping insurance and a rapid rise in oil and gas prices.
We are working with UK and EU mills and actively monitoring markets and want to reassure our customers that these recent events haven’t had an impact on stock availability, yet, and orders continue to be processed as normal. We have high stock levels at our two main sites and our supplementary holding facility, as well as having large quantities of steel awaiting collection at various UK ports.
What is clear, however, is that steel prices are expected to increase and we will give notice of any changes at the earliest opportunity. We hope this will enable you to plan accordingly with both existing and new business, outstanding quotations and prospective work to come.
If you have questions or concerns regarding these changes or wish to discuss any projects you are working on now or in the future, please don’t hesitate to call.
