AJN Steelstock Kawasaki unveils special livery for home round of BSB

As the Bennetts British Superbike Championship roars back into action, the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki race team has unveiled a striking new livery in recognition of the iconic Kawasaki Z1 – the original superbike.

Admired by enthusiast and historians alike, the Z1 is still considered one of the greatest motorcycles ever made and it was the distinctive sight and sound of a Z1, complete in its unique Candy Yellow and Green colour scheme, that ignited a life-long love of motorcycles and motorcycle racing for AJN Steelstock’s Joint Managing Director, Alan Boyden.

As title sponsors of the official Kawasaki British Superbike race team (AJN Steelstock Kawasaki), and in recognition of the Z1’s iconic status, two special edition ZX10-RR British Superbikes – ridden by Max Cook and Christian Iddon – will compete for top honours at Round 3 of the 2025 Bennetts British Superbikes.

In a proud and bold statement, the livery swaps the familiar Kawasaki green for Kawasaki’s vintage Candy Yellow as featured in the Z1 models of the 1970s.

The one-off paint job, adopted for AJN Steelstock’s home round at Snetterton, will also extend to the team’s garage boarding and hospitality unit, and Max, Christian, the garage crew and hospitality support team, will also don Candy Yellow racewear and teamwear for the weekend.

British Superbike fans will also get the chance to see some of the original and iconic Z1s as part of a display of Kawasaki Superbikes through the ages.

A 1973 Z1, a 1974 Z1A, a 1975 Z1B, a 1976 Z900-A4, a 1979 six-cylinder Z1300, a 1984 Eddie Lawson Replica, a Z900RS and even a Ninja H2 Carbon – all from Alan’s personal collection – will be on display at the AJN Steelstock Kawasaki hospitality unit.

Alan Boyden, AJN’S Joint Managing Director, comments, “The Z1 is a true motorcycling icon; it really set the bar for high-performance motorcycling and kick-started the concept of the superbike.

“What better way to celebrate the Z1’s iconic status than a special livery for the current ZX10-RR superbikes at our home round at Snetterton. We can’t wait to see Max and Christian out on the track.”

Ross Burridge, Head of Marketing & Racing Department at Kawasaki Motors UK, comments, “What can I say? This design is absolutely stunning! The AJN Steelstock Kawasaki ZX-10RR’s always stand out on track, but this has taken it to another level. I can’t wait to see the bikes in action this weekend and look forward to customers having the chance to see Alan’s display of both modern and heritage Kawasakis trackside.”
